Institutional Development Plan (IDP)

Introduction

Our college  aims to be a leading institution in promoting physical education, sports sciences, and holistic development. This Institutional Development Plan outlines our roadmap to strengthen academic programs, introduce new skill-based courses, expand sports facilities, and enhance student development initiatives in line with evolving trends and national priorities.

Vision

To emerge as a centre of excellence in physical education and sports sciences, nurturing physically fit, ethically strong, and socially responsible individuals committed to national development and global well-being.

Mission

  • To provide quality education in physical education and allied disciplines.
  • To promote professional training, research, and innovation in sports and fitness.
  • To create a dynamic learning environment that fosters leadership and life skills.
  • To serve society through health, wellness, and sports outreach programmes.

Key Development Areas

 Academic Expansion – New Courses

To meet the increasing demand for skilled professionals in the fitness and sports industries, the college will introduce the following short-term and certificate courses:

  • Fitness Trainer Course
  • Gym Instructor Certification
  • Sports Event Management Programme

These courses will be industry-aligned, hands-on, and job-oriented, enabling students to explore diverse career paths.

Infrastructure Development – New Facilities

To provide a comprehensive and modern sports environment, the following new facilities will be established:

  1. Archery                                       –      to promote traditional Skill.
  2. Pickle Ball Court                        –      introducing this fast-growing sport.
  3. Skating Rink                               –     to train in roller and inline skating.
  4. Synthetic Track                          –     for high-performance athletic training.
  5. Canoeing                                      –     promoting water-based adventure sports.
  6. Three Pitches for Turf Cricket –         including nets and match-quality surfaces.
  7. Obstacle Courses                          –    for physical endurance and military-style fitness.

Student Enrichment – New Programmes

To support academic growth, skill development, and professional readiness, the college will launch the following initiatives:

  1. SET/NET Coaching Programme – to prepare students for eligibility tests for lectureship.
  2. Sivanthi Sports Academy – a structured training programme for identifying and nurturing sports talent.
  3. Cambridge English Course – skill enhancement through internationally recognized English training.
  4. Soft Skills Programme – communication, leadership, and personality development.
  5. Remedial Coaching Programme – academic support for slow learners and academically weaker students.

Implementation and Monitoring

  • Formation of dedicated committees for each area (academics, infrastructure, student development).
  • Allocation of budget and resources in phased manner.
  • Regular monitoring through IQAC and review by the Development Committee.
  • Periodic feedback from stakeholders for continuous improvement.

Outcome Expectations

  • Enhanced employability and career readiness of students.
  • Improved infrastructure aligning with national and international standards.
  • Increased research output and participation in competitive exams.
  • Stronger community engagement and sports culture promotion.
