NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS)

The college has one unit of NSS volunteers approved by Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, Chennai.

Motto: Development of the Personality of students through Community Service, “ NOT ME BUT YOU”

Objective:

Establish a strong connection between the college and society, provide students with opportunities to serve in rural areas, encourage their participation in national development, and foster national integration.

Activities:

NSS volunteers generally work in villages, slums and voluntary agencies to complete 120 hours of regular activities during an academic year. As per the fundamental principles of National Service Scheme, a volunteer is expected to remain in constant touch with the community. Hence, it is of vital importance that a particular village/slum is selected for implementation of NSS programmes. As the NSS volunteer is to live with the members of the community during the 7 days Special Camping Programme and learn from their experience during his/her tenure in NSS, the village/slum should be carefully selected for adoption by NSS unit.

 Student Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC)

The Student Grievance Redressal Committee as per University Grants Commission (Redressal of Grievances of Students) Regulations, 2023 with an object to address and resolve various grievances of the students related to academic, financial matters, health services, library and other central services. The College has a zero tolerance policy for timely redressal of grievances of the students.

Internal Complaint Committee

Dr. Sivanthi Aditanar College of physical education has Zero Tolerance Policy towards sexual harassment in the college. With this purpose, Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) is constituted in the College, Pune as per S.4 of The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and Sub regulation (1) of Regulation 4 of UGC (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2015.

Equal Opportunity Cell

MMM SCLC has established an Equal Opportunity Cell as per UGC Guidelines for Scheme of Equal Opportunity Centre for Colleges, XII Plan (2012-2017), p.1) to meet the following objectives. The broad aim of this Equal Opportunity Cell is to oversee the effective implementation of policies and programmes for disadvantaged groups, to provide guidance and counselling with respect to academic, financial, social and other matters and to enhance the diversity within the campus. The college strictly follows Zero Tolerance towards discrimination and harassment of disadvantaged/minority groups such as SC/ST/OBC, etc.

In response to the UGC’s XII Plan guidelines, and as per the Maharashtra Public University Act, MM’s SCLC has set up the Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) in August, 2019, having the following objectives:

  • The EOC shall establish coordination with the Government and other agencies/organization to mobilize academic and financial resources to provide assistance to those students who are the most deprived and in dire need of economic support to complete their education in MMM’s SCLC.
  • The EOC shall be an overarching body, coordinating the functions of :
    • SC/ST Committees
    • OPEM Cell (Cell for OBC, PWD, EWS (Economically Weaker Section), and Minority categories).
  • To ensure that all students are treated equally and to address any issues raised.
  • To ensure even the disadvantaged/minority groups such as SC/ST/OBC are given equal importance in all aspects and do not get left behind in the learning process.
  • To prevent any type of harassment against the minority/disadvantaged groups.
  • To infuse unity in diversity, among the students, teaching and nonteaching staff and to eliminate the perception of discrimination.
  • To ensure there is no discrimination in terms of religion, race, caste, disability, scheduled caste, Scheduled Tribes, etc.

Socio Economically Disadvantaged Groups Cell (SEDG)

At Dr. Sivanthi Aditanar College of physical education, the Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Group (SEDG) Cell is committed to fostering inclusivity and equal opportunities for all students, regardless of their socio-economic backgrounds. The cell functions as a dedicated support system to ensure that students from underprivileged sections of society can thrive academically, socially, and personally.

Objectives:

    Empowerment: Provide holistic support to socio-economically disadvantaged students to help them excel in academics and beyond.

    Awareness: Create awareness about various government and institutional schemes, scholarships, and opportunities available to SEDG students.

    Skill Development: Organize training sessions, workshops, and mentorship programs to enhance employability and personal development.

    Support System: Establish a strong support network to address challenges related to finances, academics, and mental health

Training Programme for 15 days on their game of specialization and
athletics to various schools in Tamil Nadu.
